FAQ

1. What can I expect when I arrive at Point Baptist Church?
We know that walking into a new place is sometimes difficult. The Point, as we love to call our fellowship, is a friendly place. You will be welcomed warmly and you will discover quickly we are here to love Jesus and love you and your family. You will hear great music, expositional preaching from God’s word and will make some new friends.
2. Do you have anything for my children?
Our ministry for children and youth presents fun, innovative ways to instill essential truths from God’s Word, foster healthy fellowship between peers, and build prayer and Bible study habits that will last a lifetime. It is our goal through every activity and interaction to lead your child to Jesus Christ and equip him or her with godly habits and practices for their life of faith. And our ministry is to parents, too! It is our desire to resource and encourage you as you rear your child in the faith.
3. What is your music style?
The music here at The Point can be classified as “blended” in every sense of the word. On any given Sunday, you may hear a highly traditional hymn, a contemporary Christian top 100 hit, or even a southern gospel quartet. We have purposely not locked into a particular style of music because there is such a wealth of great worship music dating back a few centuries all the way to present day. The one constant in our music is that it will be Biblically sound and God honoring.
4. How should I dress?
We do not have a dress code at The Point. You will see a wide variety of attire at our church. We are focused on Jesus and our hearts more than our attire.
5. Am I expected to give in the offering?
NO! While we do take an offering every Sunday morning at the end of the service, there will no expectation nor any pressure for you to give anything. Giving is a matter of choice and comes from the heart! God always meets our needs!
6. What translation of the Bible do you use?
Pastor Tim preaches and teaches from the English Standard Version!
What We Believe
We believe the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testament, to be the verbally inspired,
infallible, and single authoritative source of doctrine and authority for faith and life.
(II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; John 14:10,26)
We believe that man was created in the image of God but, as a result of sin, is lost and powerless to save
himself.
(Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3, 4:17-19)
We believe that the only hope for man is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God, who
died to take upon Himself the punishment for the sin of mankind, and who physically rose from the dead, so
that by receiving Him as Savior and Lord, man is redeemed by His blood.
(Acts 2:18-36; Romans 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 1:3-5)
We believe that salvation is “by grace” plus nothing and minus nothing. The conditions to salvation are
repentance and faith.
(John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19)
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells those who receive Christ for the purpose of enabling them to live righteous
and holy lives.
(Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12:4-11, 28; Ephesians 4:7-12)
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and well-being of his fellowmen; that his conduct
should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he
should seek to realize for himself and others the full statute of maturity in Christ.
(2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Ephesians 4:11-16, Philippians 2:14-16; Colossians 3:17-23; 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 18)
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated
persons are members. We believe in the local church consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ,
baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that
God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a
lost world.
(Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 2:38-41; Ephesians 2:19, 22, 5:25-27)
We believe the two ordinances of the church are baptism of Believers by immersion, and the Lord’s Supper
until He returns. Neither ordinance is required for salvation — both are done as acts of obedience.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:41, 42; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32)
We believe in the visible and personal return of Jesus Christ.
(Daniel 2:31-45; Zechariah 14:4-11; I Thess. 1:10, 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelations 3:10, 19:11-16, 20:1-6)
